In line with the global theme #breakthebias, this year’s International Women’s Day event of the Women’s Development Centre was celebrated under the theme ‘Women for Human Rights’ and was organized as a national advocacy event to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms. The event was held on the 9th March 2022 at the Kandy City Centre. Special guests include the Additional Kandy District Secretary, Assistant Secretary for Youth affairs, Women’s affairs and Trade, Regional Financial Manager for Humanity and Inclusion and other distinguished guests.
 
The event also included a trade exhibition comprising of various items from WDC’s Network of Women (NOW) organisation. The programme ended with a variety of cultural performances presented by our talented women’s forums.
The Women Led Human Rights Promotion in Sri Lanka project is a project that was implemented from 2020 to 2022 and was funded with the support of the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives and Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion.
