The ‘cash for work’ project funded by HI- India, Nepal & Sri Lanka and implemented by the WDC is an emergency response project that is carried out with the support of the community to minimize the damage caused by the floods within the Ratnapura District. A relief grant worth Rs. 20,000 will be paid to residents, however, the payment will be released according to the number of days worked in disaster response activities.
As this is a very good programme, it is a matter of urgency to follow its example and make sure that everyone we help through our initiatives contributes towards its sustainability.
