We were able to witness happiness from the act of giving and the importance in coming forward and voicing one’s concerns and hardships at the right place and time.
Moses Thangarasu, a 40 year old from the area of Udunuwara was identified through one of our awareness programmes done on disability identification and reintegration. He became handicapped at the age of 32 due to a train accident. Moses had already been referred to the Jaipur foot programme initiated by the Friends In Need Society who were able to give him a pair of prosthetic legs. Unfortunately due to the difficult terrain that he lives in Moses was unable to adjust to the prosthetics and was confined to his wheelchair. Since his wheelchair was not in good condition after years of use, our dedicated officers began looking for potential donors who would be willing to donate a new wheelchair for Moses. We were approached by Ms. Gayani Ranathunga, an employee at Ceylinco Insurance Kandy, who generously contributed towards gifting a brand new wheelchair for Moses.
Moses was also advised by our staff on starting up a means of self employment and utilising his capabilities towards economically and socially empowering himself.
If you or anyone you know is interested in donating and supporting towards worthy causes like such, please do not hesitate to contact us through phone, email or Facebook and we will ensure that your donation reaches those who are in need of help.
