Developing skills through candle making

The WDC ‘Sthree’ women’s initiative is a social enterprise mainly for women and disabled entrepreneurs. Not only does the Sthree provide a market for individual entrepreneurs but also provides various capacity building trainings and workshops for women and persons with disabilities. One such training was the candle-making workshop conducted in October for the women of the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya forums. The workshop was done in partnership with Candle House Ceylon. Around 25 women were able to learn the art of candle making and were provided advice on how to effectively market their products.
