History
The WDC founded by Mrs. Stephen and Mrs. Kurian and was formally established in 1986 and registered as an NGO in 1989.
It’s aim is to improve the status of women in society through organizing, awareness raising livelihood and other programs of empowerment community based activities and programs
Central to programs of WDC is the aspect of prevention and intervention to violence. Initially activities concentrated on crisis intervention for female victims of violence
The WDC program development and implementation can be divided into Four broad program areas as follows. Many programs are interrelated whilst there are distinct program areas too. The interrelated programs share resources, information knowledge and skills. The different experiences of the individual programs are shared and disseminated. Further, many staff actively participate in more than one program at a time and often introduce new concepts and values
